  • 3.Hosting parents need to acknowledge (physical or digital signature or email receipt) that they know and understand the IASAS rules for housing and their specific responsibilities as a host. HOSTING GUIDELINES

  • Each school year, ISM hosts various IASAS tournaments involving sports, Fine Arts, and other events. During these events, we ask our parents and families to host visiting students in their homes for two to four nights. Our visitors come mainly from IASAS schools in Bangkok, Jakarta, Singapore, Taipei, and Kuala Lumpur. Hosting helps our students build friendships and significantly reduces travel costs for everyone.
  • Guests typically spend most of the day (Thursday–Saturday) on campus participating in the tournament. They should keep you informed of their whereabouts at other times. Open communication is important—exchange cell phone numbers so you can stay in touch.
  • You will receive an information email prior to the event with your guest’s name, school, pick-up/drop-off times, and the event schedule. Generally, teams arrive Wednesday afternoon/evening and depart on Sunday morning before 10:00 AM.
  • IASAS Curfew is 9:00 PM. All students must be at the host’s home by 9:00 PM. Host parents may not allow students to leave the house after curfew for any reason, and it is not acceptable to take students out or allow them to return home after curfew. Students in apartment buildings should not hang out in communal pool/rec areas—everyone must be inside the home by 9:00 PM. If students ask, please say NO.
  • Team dinners are not allowed at IASAS events. Host parents may pick up their guest at the end of each day once tournament play has ended, or follow the arranged transportation provided during the event.
  • The IASAS competition—benefiting our HS students—cannot happen without host families. Thank you, and we hope you have a great time with your visitors!
  • General Responsibilities: Transportation, food, a comfortable place to sleep, and a warm welcome. Please treat your guests the way you would wish your own children to be treated when they are hosted by another family.

IASAS RULES & GUIDELINES

Each participant and their parent by participating in IASAS acknowledge that they fully understand and agree to abide by these RULES & GUIDELINES. It is important to note that our guidelines are designed to ensure all of our students are safe and supported. Our duty of care is always our first priority. When infractions take place, our aim is to encourage students to reflect and grow, to hold them accountable for the choices they made, and support them to make better decisions in the future.

Participants:

When a student commits a serious infraction including, but not limited to, drug use (including alcohol, tobacco / e-cigarette or other mood altering substances), deceit, theft, flagrant curfew violations, as well as aiding and abetting any of the above, the following will apply:

  • 1. The student may no longer participate in that IASAS invitational, convention or tournament. They will not be recognized during the IASAS awards ceremony.
  • 2. The student will be sent home at parents’ expense if it is feasible to do so.
  • 3. Character-related awards such as Spirit of IASAS will be revoked.
  • 4. Cheating at events may result in removal of medals and revocation of records after formal review by IASAS Athletics and/or Activities Directors.
  • 5. The student will be excluded from IASAS related co-curricular activities for a period of 40 school days following the determination of the infraction. The student will be excluded from any IASAS season/activity that begins within this 40-day period including the subsequent season and any period in between.
  • 6. Consequences related to third season infractions will carry over to the following school year.
  • 7. For a second offense, the student will be excluded for one calendar year from IASAS events including the same invitational, convention or tournament the following year.
  • 8. Consequences will be carried over if the student transfers to another IASAS school.

Other Individual School's Consequences:

  • Depending on the severity and specifics of the infraction and the student’s past behavior, individual IASAS schools may levy other consequences as per their school policy/handbooks.
  • This may include further exclusion from all IASAS events.
  • For infractions that impact more than one school, consequences will be determined in consultation with the principals from the impacted IASAS schools.

If a school does not have a trainer present, an ISM nurse or an AT from another school will support any concussion assessment/injury. At no time will coaches and/or parents overrule any decision or protocol made by the Athletic Trainer(s). ATs’ and doctors’ decisions are final. Any suspected concussion injury will be assessed by the designated AT, and a standard concussion assessment will be provided.
